Ægteskab Uden Grænser (ÆUG) is a volunteer-based association that has specialised in helping Danish-international couples since 1996. Once a year, the association elects its board, which makes the overall decisions and approves the projects that come from the working groups.
The working groups cover advice, policy, legislation, PR, events, integration and international networking. As a volunteer, you have a lot of freedom to develop and carry out your own projects and to leave your mark on the Denmark of the future.
The working groups
The advice group
We advise members on everything from family reunification to visas, by email and phone, via social media or in person at our open advice days. We keep up to date with the legislation and produce information for the website.
The PR group
We develop and maintain the association's digital presence on the website and social media. We produce PR material and handle the association's representation in the media.
The policy and legislation groups
We keep up to date with changes in legislation, court cases and rulings. The group does lobbying work, writes consultation responses and letters to stakeholders, and is in regular contact with the Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen). We also work on conditions for people who have come through family reunification but do not yet have a permanent residence permit or citizenship, and on access to permanent residence and citizenship, equal treatment, the labour market and recognition of foreign qualifications.
The events group
We develop, plan and hold events, both small and large. They aim either to tell the world about our work or to build wellbeing, integration and networks across Danish-international families.
The board
The board sets the course for Ægteskab Uden Grænser.
- Emilie Mersch Kizmaz, chair and press officer
